Annual General Meeting – Davenport NDP

On Saturday, October 18, 2025, the Davenport NDP Riding Association is hosting our Annual General Meeting (AGM) to prepare for the year ahead. All Davenport NDP members in good standing are invited to attend!

When: Saturday, October 18, 2025 — 3:00 pm to 6:00 pm (doors open at 2:30pm)
Where: George Chuvalo Neighbourhood Centre, 50 Sousa Mendes St.

 

What’s an AGM?

An AGM is a meeting for all members of the NDP in Davenport. At the AGM, you’ll:

• Hear from Marit Stiles, our NDP MPP and Leader of the Ontario NDP

• Hear from the current executive of the Davenport NDP

• Elect a new executive for 2025–2026

• Find out what work the NDP is doing locally and how you can get involved

• Vote on four proposed amendments to the Davenport NDP Constitution

Members in good standing of the Davenport NDP are entitled to stand for positions on our Riding Association Executive. Serving on the Executive is a chance to:

• Take on a leadership role in your community

• Help guide the work of the NDP locally

• Make sure the issues that matter most in Davenport are front and centre

Executive members connect neighbours to our movement, organize events and campaigns, and help shape the priorities of our riding association. It’s also a great way to build skills, meet like-minded people, and strengthen our collective voice in the party.

• Help organize campaigns, events, and outreach in our community

• Build connections with neighbours, allies, and the labour movement

Proposed Constitutional Amendments

 

At this year’s AGM, members will vote on three proposed amendments to the Davenport NDP Constitution. These amendments are designed to:

• Encourage greater grassroots participation and transparency

• Strengthen our connection to the labour movement

• Improve planning and accountability

Each amendment will require the support of two-thirds of members present at the AGM to be adopted.

 

The proposed amendments are:

 

• Amendment to Create Labour Representatives This amendment adds dedicated labour representative positions to the Executive, strengthening our ties with the labour movement and ensuring workers’ voices are included in decision-making. Read the text here.

 

• Amendment to Meeting Notice Rules Currently, members of the Davenport NDP have the right to attend Executive meetings; this amendment ensures they will be formally invited so they can exercise those rights. Read the text here.

 

• Amendment to Executive Member Planning and Reporting Requirements This amendment introduces workplans for Executive members to improve accountability, clarify responsibilities, and strengthen follow-through on commitments. Read the text here.

 

 

Note: These proposed amendments have not yet been voted on or endorsed by the current Davenport NDP Executive. They were drafted following a majority vote of the Executive on June 5, 2025, which narrowed six initial proposals down to four. The text was developed by a 12-person committee that met four times in July and August.
